Our Mission
Although Eastern Arc Birding is a new company, our foundation is built on over 20 years of experience in studying birds and guiding specialized bird tours in Tanzania. Our team has explored nearly every corner of the country, gaining extensive knowledge of various ecosystems, including forests, woodlands, savannahs, and especially the Eastern Arc Mountains and coastal forests.
Our experiences in the Eastern Arc Mountains are unparalleled. We’ve navigated challenging terrain to observe rare species such as the Rubeho Partridge, Rufous-winged Sunbird, Chapin’s Apalis, and Uluguru Bushshrike. Additionally, we have encountered two recently described African primates, the Kipunji (Highland Mangabey) and Sanje Mangabey.

Recognizing that most birding companies are foreign-based and few specialize in the Eastern Arc Mountains, we formed Astern Arc Birding as the first Tanzanian-run company dedicated to this biodiverse region. Our local expertise and focus on these unique ecosystems set us apart in offering specialized birding experiences.
